With BBC Two Wales HD beginning test transmissions, I guess this means there's finally enough bitrate available to see this ident as it was actually meant to look in (some) of the other nations!
Basically they ignored any criticism of the "oneness" and buried their head in the sand and said "LA LA LA LA IM NOT LISTENING" while giving out platitudes and rubbish. I had multiple emails and just kept getting the same thing back time and time again until I told them they had won and had ground me down to just give up trying.
They're just short bits of video, they really don't matter. What exactly did you think your emails were going to achieve? They're not just stubbornly putting these things out to annoy you, they've been on air for almost 2 years, if they weren't working or resonating with the viewers that's enough time to know that and to replace them.
Yes, this has been confirmed from within the BBC that Scotland HD will go on the other transponder. Both have switched to 3/4, so arguably space for BBC Two NI HD and possibly a first BBC One HD English region.
Arguably yes. I suspect that the extra video stream on that transponder is there to gauge how well another service works on it
I think they're absolutely right to hold some back to use more sparingly. That is what they did with the original 90s set and it has to be remembered most people are probably only seeing a handful of programme junctions across the week. Indeed I don't think I've actually watched anything on BBC2 since the relaunch.
JUST SPOTTED THE NEW IDENT!!! PLUS horror one for promo use...
Just saw the new thread ident too! I like it a lot and the music. Wasn't expecting it to appear on a Saturday night before a QI repeat. My guess was November before a new programme. Saw the aquatic ident endboard for the first time before The Mash Report on Friday. So every ident DOES look to have a trailer animation.

With the original launch of the '2' in 1991 there were 9, 11 if you include the slight differences for the anvil and water idents. They launched on the same day and all were used regularly until new additions came along a few months later. BBC2 have launched with 16 new idents but keep using a handful more than others during the day and in primetime. It's more boring seeing the same ones over and over, I'd rather they use them all.

The three white idents tend to appear only at 9am, 11am and 12.15pm. Where the variety in that? Black and White Art ident not been seen now in two weeks. Same goes for Snake one. Its all well in good adding a new one, but why not use what is already in use.
No one has the right to moan about this point, Look at ch4 and the complaints of the overuse of the kids on bikes, or the use of the shorter versions only. I still love the full version of the hilltop one, it hardly ever appears.
