In reality it would be the announcer speaking every few seconds as repeatedly telling viewers there is a problem is clearly more effective at stopping viewers turning over than some nice relaxing music.

Or just to give the feeling the channel hasn't died completely, which most countries don't have the British style of continuity.

The new look is innovative, artistic, stylish, clean and minimal. Glad they've splashed some cash. Makes all the difference to the overall appeal of the channel. The BBC One idents are for a different audience and they do their job.
These idents are more my taste. Definitely will be checking out the channel more. I've ignored BBC2 for too long
.
This is a fascinating comment. The newly refreshed idents are now going to make you watch BBC2 more than you would otherwise have done, regardless of programme content?
If branding wasn't important and didn't affect consumers habits companies wouldn't be spending millions on it. BBC2's ratings aren't going to significantly increase overnight but the brand perception should definately improve now it doesn't look like a
second hand shop.
I'm going to break with consensus here and say while I think the concept is good, the execution is lacking a little for me in one or two, particularly the seemingly arbitrary colour changes in Feel Good; the rapid reversal-to-initial-image-to-force-a-resolution technique used in Escapist, the snake one, and Revelatory; and how the Tribble's feet suddenly appear and disappear. The simplest ones work the best - I particularly like the grey mechanical one, the animated one and the flippy pages one, which, along with the single note theme song, are a nod to the channel's recent heritage.
As you might expect, I'm finding the optimum way of viewing this rebrand is live on linear TV on the best HD screen available.
The junctions are noticeably smoother, a thousand times slicker and more engaging as a result. Plus the TVF exclusive joy of anticipating which ident will pop up is taking me back to simpler times.
They look nice on your phone when played on your demand but there's something special about seeing them live on TV, the primary medium for which they were designed for.
"Celebratory" is one that benefits most from the big screen. Sets the mood of anticipation and excitement well.
