If what we see is the real deal, it seems to be a mash of the 1990’s Radio 2 logo and the Meridian logo.
Either way I look forward to it. Let’s hope BBC ONE can think of something a little bit different.
If you hadn't heard, and frankly I'm always late to these things so there's no reason I should be breaking it to you, a new look BBC 2 debuts on Thursday. And I mean a new look. The bladed 2 is retiring.

The bad news is that the new look is apparently "ambient" and logoless. Based on the curve in the middle of the figure 2. I say "bad news", it looks lovely, but I'd have preferred it to result in a logo. Other than just the teal box.

But I've only seen the two still pictures of it the BBC's released. And it does still look cool.

They seem to have brought back channel controllers, and this is the result

The new look, from what I've seen, is certainly very BBC2, in the same sense that Martin Lambie Nairn and the Sadlers were working with back in 1991.

And no symbol could easily replace the bladed 2, that thing had a massive, noisy, extroverted personality. They might regret literally going for "no symbol", though. If that's what they've done.
