Channels like BBC Two and E4 using such "eclectic" branding, allows the work of individuals to add to the collective, but exhibit an individual quality.
Their use as endboards in trailers, and menus, tie it together.
And then there is the bland logotype in Avenir which without the iconic 2 of the original Window on the world branding, or the use of the font for on-screen pres - stands apart in a sort of awkward way. Oh and lets replace Teal as the off-screen logo colour please.
Sometimes you can't explain why you like or don't like something.
Fair enough...

In honesty, I'm on the fence with the new BBC TWO idents. I don't think it was right to remove the 2 logo from the channel's future - I think they should have included the 2 in these idents and removed the TWO text. But you would still keep the region text.
However, there's definitely a big improvement in the flow of continuity which is a massively positive thing for the channel.
But I think everyone will miss the 2 eventually. I feel like these idents are very BBC Four.

Agree! Loving the new look and it really baffles me with Reith... announce this 'amazing' new font, then dribble it out.
Maybe the plainness of the logo means they can, eventually, replace ALL channel logos with those designed in the new font?

Is that the first time the strange orange one has been used?
One problem about the "2" was that it was not part of the logo in any form, starting in 1997; this automatically made it less prominent, and somehow less iconic
But the curve is clearly inspired by the "2" (again, especially the fact the graphics are split in two parts), just less blatantly so
And again I state: the presentation is simply sleek and modern
This was the channel that until days ago was the epitome of a mishmash: crazy colours with the endboards (with crazy text positioning too), older idents (I still think they should have developed more the "Window of the world" idents instead of bringing back the 90s ones) and still with reminders of the original Window look etc
Do we have any official names floating around for these yet?
Well, the one with the white lines on a grey background is called "Sculpture" according to its creator, Conlan Normington's website.
Interestingly there's some style frames and development pictures for the two idents he created for the new rebrand.
