Oh I now realise what you mean by "changing fonts"; and I definitely agree with you
Actually, I don't think it's necessarily just a gimmick. I mean, of course it's a gimmick, that's what presentation is broadly speaking.
But it has a function too...
In the most recently posted clip the font becoming more emboldened actually serves a purpose because it changes as the background animates, which makes the thinner font less readable.
And in the opening junction when Son of Fluffy is used as the background, the font changes ready for the orange thing to land on top of it.
Not only that but I think the text morph gives a fluidity to the end board which wouldn't be present with static text.

Minor gripes: personally I’m not keen on the changing fonts. It just seems a bit gimmicky and smacks of “ooh look we’ve got different versions of our new font, let’s use them all!”
Also disappointed to see the 4:3 safe Gill Sans Subtitles DOG lives on.
Those small points aside, the idents look brilliant - fresh, bright, modern and vibrant. I love the transitions into and out of the trails too. Just what BBC Two needed - thoroughly refreshes what was a tired and unloved looking channel.
Surely BBC One can’t continue much longer with Oneness while its being outshone by its sister channel.

So that's why the text fades out at the end of the promo.
Yes, it's the same idea as ITV had with the original promo boards for this logo. Is clever, probably something that couldn't be done years ago when video levels were more variable between items.
This is connected with my observation last might that they're loopable, if the first frame of the start and finish is the same as the slide then it all works seemlessly
Saw from the 8am junction what happens when a trail endboard has the same background as the ident (or in this case Sign Zone graphic) it goes into - seamless.

Well you can't please everyone.
These are officially the worst idents I have ever seen. Worse than Oneness, Circles, Window on the World...

Having just seen one on BBC 1, maybe the fade out for the text shouldn't be there for airings on 1 & 4. I realise that would involve making two sets of trails though (then again, they made an old style and new style trail for last chance lawyer)

I think the new look is slick and visually very appealing- good soundtracks too. After so many "people" idents on the main channels over the last couple of decades, it's brilliant to see a return to CGI.
Quite simply, this is the BBC Two brand refresh we'd all be hoping for. I can see them sticking with this look for many years.

Only found out about all these new rebrands this morning (don't know how I've missed it until now!).
Gotta say I love the new look BBC Two. Looks very fresh and modern but seems to fit the channel very well. So glad to see the back of the horrible mish-mash of promo end boards we had before. Don't mind seeing the end of the 2s as we already had a second run of them anyway, and as nice as they are, they did feel a little old.
Really hope this quality rebrand makes its way to BBC One soon as this now makes oneness look even worse.

You're right about BBC One's idents looking inferior to these. However, as One re-branded less than 2 years ago, I think we are some way off Oneness getting replaced, particularly as more idents keep on getting added to the collection. I can see BBC One sticking with their idents for at least another 3 years, if not longer.
