Looks fantastic. Very modern, fresh and vibrant and seriously puts Oneness to shame. And they haven't dropped the 2 entirely, as the way the curves form look like a 2.

10/10 from me.

The way they are churning out new Oneness idents recently that is extremely unlikely.

The new BBC Two looks good. Although everyone always says ‘bring back the [old idents]’, when they actually do, and then keep them so long it doesn’t look great for the channel, and they were well overdue being replaced.

Let’s hope the rest of the presentation looks just as good and consistent and we don’t have massive oversized badly placed captions like on BBC One.

Is everyone here recording the last few junctions of BBC2 tonight?

I've got them all today (both Network and NI) but my method is to simply directly record the iplayer streams. And that'll mean leaving the PC to record overnight with a cutoff at 3AM.

This usually works without a hitch but it has been known to fail on some occasions. So if that happens, I hope there's another copy available.

The new BBC2 idents are actually quite pleasing on the eye. They might even make a good wallpaper! A nice variety of colour and texture.

They now make BBC1 seem stale and naff beyond belief.

BIB- I think we all quickly realised this on January 1st last year!

That article ends with:

Quote:
Famous creative shop Aardman will deliver full animations in the coming months.

Not sure how to take that. Do they mean Aardman have made these, and these are stings and the full animations will follow? Surely not, but what else could it mean?

"will deliver MORE animations" perhaps?

Aardman is just one of the animation companies working on this.

The confusion in language between the use of the words stings/animation/ident etc is due to the fact that all of these idents you've seen are also being used as stings, promo openers, promo endboards, and menus.

I was just wondering how it works with so many potential ident choices nowadays. Who is actually deciding which one should go before specific programmes, especially when it comes to the less regular programmes and one offs.

The idents are scheduled by the Media Planners who also place the trails/promos and credit squeezes.

It's randomised, but its usually selected by someone in Media Planning or a Presentation Scheduler (it depends on the department structure of the broadcaster) - Sometimes if I see an ident flows with a particular programme, I'd swap it out.
