While searching for idents on Sky Q, there is an unaired BBC ident titled
"BBC Event Safe 1", which has the BBC logo in gold in front of a purple silk background.
This might be a generic ident for when Queen Elizbeth dies.
There are also versions for BBC One and BBC Two, which are silent versions of the main idents. BBC One has the generic one and BBC Two has will be retired Silk.
Can anyone show me a cap of this please? I'm on Freeview.
I just hope this might finally end the trend of blend live-action idents, especially if these are supposedly being heralded as diverse, flexible and cheap.
My only criticism is "TWO" feels like a hangover. A more slender typeface would better compliment these sleeker idents. Appart from that they look great imo and feel like a long over-due breath of fresh air.
Yeah I didn't want to say anything negative as I haven't seen them on air - but I've honestly never liked how that logo looks without the box. A minor nitpick though.
The logo is the low point sure, but let's hope this really does mean the end of the Gill Sans BBC Two logo, and a new primary colour that is not teal.
I hope the Menus, Endboards, Promo graphics are all interesting too. I would like to see the transition from programme end, through trailers and stings, to the next Ident - feels fresher and modern.
No wonder they're shouting about these compared to the absolute silence that preceeded Oneness. There is something very classic about them and from those clips you can tell they've remembered their purpose - a short call to armchairs before the announcer comes in.
Do agree the logo is a bit of an afterthought but at least it's not slapped in a box in the corner.

Yeah, in a way they're kinda retro. That Perfect Curve-esqe blurb aside they were clearly just designed to be something nice to look at with no pretentious delusions of grandeur.
I must be in the minority. I never had a problem with the "boxless TWO" logo, and always thought it looked quite neat compared to the teal box that could quite easily clash with what was on screen, especially when the original window idents were dropped.
Granted, I'd love to see a bit of uniformity in the logos again. I get the impression they
think
they still are. BBC One's logo is still occasionally shoved in a red box, or repositioned to the "one" is either directly adjacent and level or underneath the BBC logo. If I'm being really pedantic, BBC 3's box isn't the same dimensions anymore. The only logo that still has its original box is BBC Four.
The weird thing is that the new idents don't actually feel BBC-like, they feel more European and fresh (especially the music), not some cheap live-action ident anyone could make.
