BBC Two 2018 Revamp

During the last 2 minutes of 'Curious Creatures' today at 13.27, the audio was replaced by the audio of Radio 5 Live! The correct audio returned at the very end of the credits.

Have we gone a whole month without a new ident?

Ive got a feeling we might get a couple more around Autumn time before some new ones are added at Christmas.

Well I've heard that two new idents should be on the way. At a guess, with no more info, maybe September could be when we see them.

How many have we had so far this year?

Is it 5 added this year so far? Sparkly, Maverick, Illuminating, Intense and Discovery. I think it's those ones.

Somebody else sees the similarities too!

Silk/Escapist, Diary/Reflective, Revelatory/Slinky, Fluffy Dog/Offbeat, Op Art/Thought Provoking and Bold/Giant's Causeway are the ones where I see the links between the old 2 and the curve era.

Though the overall concept share clear similarities I think some if those comparisons are pushing it a bit. A couple of them though are new to me - Op Art and Corridor.

Some stings used from the '2' era rather than idents but you can see some similarities. Even one of the team from Superunion said they liked Offbeat because it reminded them of Fluffy Dog.

I was watching this video on YouTube showing Test Card W at the end of the 'This is BBC Two' overnight loop and if you listen closely at 0:12 just before Test Card W, you can breifly hear the end of the music to Optics from the previous ident package. This is probably due to the Curve idents are plastered over the 1991-2001 idents during the overnight loop.

Whoops. They forgot to update the testcard. It should've been updated when the Windows of the World ident package launched. Two ident packages later, it's STILL in Gill Sans.

That was created after then, when BBC Two HD launched.


Not that it matters.. its a testcard (well its not really but it is kind of)
