... stupid schedulers! (December 2007)

Just how stupid do you have to be to be a scheduler?

Presumably due to Kelly Brook quitting, Strictly Come Dancing is ten minutes shorter tonight - so surely the sensible thing to do would be to find a ten-minute filler (surely there's an extended Christmas trailer lying around!) or begin the programme ten minutes later, getting an extra 10 minutes out of Final Score or the news before hand.

Or just simply pad out Strictly with even more filler - after all they've found enough for an extra show on Sundays!

But no - the BBC in their infinite wisdom decide it's better to put on every programme from Robin Hood onwards 10-minutes earlier!

Good old BBC - we make it what it is!

Like the "Christmas on BBC ONE" idea - we haven't seen that for years.

On the other hand, perhaps Brian Capron should get another shot if Kelly has quit?

Yes but you can't go "Oh sorry your dad's died Kelly but we're bringing Brian back now...sod ya.." Wink

I see what you mean though, a space could be filled.

There are past celebs rehearsing for the forthcoming tour, aren't there? They could bring some of them out to do a routine half-way through.

I assume they've got a musical guest lined up this weekend too - surely an extra number from them could fill a few minutes.

Frankly there are numerous options they could have resorted too before bringing forward the whole schedule ten minutes.

Not that long ago (well, depends how long you consider a decade to be I suppose) they'd have filled ten minutes with a Tom and Jerry cartoon or something.

Filling ten minutes nowdays with Tom & Jerry in a prime winter Saturday night viewing slot may just have the audiences changing channels in their droves. This could be what they are worried about.

Yeah, gone are the days of Tony Robinson's Cartoon Time. I used to love that.

You would have expected that ten minutes could be easily filled by something if not extending say the News and Final Score by five minutes or even adding more into Strictly Come Dancing. I'm sure it could have been padded out for another ten minutes instead of moving the entire schedule forward.

Yeah I thought it was Stay Tooned, I just couldn't think of it so put that instead.

If they're going to, they will anyway. It's like trying to hold back the waves - pointless.
