Pap Idol and Popstars were shoddy pieces of sh*t and people only watched them because of seing their precious gareth or gorgeous whoever....
I know this whole family who only watched it because they fancied gareth Surprised

Anyway Fame Academy is the best out of the lot because the people there actually work hard.

And they have a 24 hr live link (think big brother Twisted Evil ) you can find it by just pressing that magical red button!

Agreed - Fame Academy is Pop Idol with a university education..... hardly surprising Pap Idol is ahead because this nation is dumbing down.....

No I wouldn't - if Pap Idol was on the BBC, I'd still not watch it. I'm not that superficial.....

Like I said Kat - yeah the Lame Academy people have released the better songs, but the BBC have NO IDEA how to do something commercial-style. We've seen this happen with their pathetic Hit 40 UK rip-off that they call the "official" chart show.

The Official Chart Show is a rip-off? And it's not official? Now, let me see who was there first and who is more official.... Rolling Eyes

And besides, if they can't promote things, then why did Sneddon get to number 1 and Sinead Quinn to number 2?

Oh please. Pop Idol was the original and the best in search of a solo act. It created the standard. Lame Academy limped along afterwards because the BBC detected a band wagon to jump on, and tried to do a cross between Pop Idol and Big Brother. Interestingly the 2nd series has taken even more steps to be like Pop Idol and no matter how you dress it up about "nurturing talent", Lame Academys basic premise is an entertainment talent contest, it's just that the BBC have to put some kind of public service spin into it to justify the spend.

Oh and as for superficial Katherine, you are as superficial as they get. You say there isn't a single programme you watch on ITV in any way, shape or form, and it's like you just don't intend to give any programmes a chance. Even I'm not as bad as that even with my obvious pro ITV stance. At least I do stray onto the BBC (well have to get my money's worth don't I). Laughing

I agree with you, but Fame Academy is based on "Star Academy" which was created before Pop Idol.

Wrong on 2 counts: firstly there will be live announcers on shift all day, just the same as now, secondly the changes to rotas haven't happened yet.
Don't believe everything you believe in the papers!!!

There would have been an announcer on shift then and they wouldn't have forgotten to turn up for the announcement, it's more likely to be finger trouble by the person with the fader

Ummm- excuse me mr scutter!.
2 things:
1. The new Rota HAS started - that saturday was the first day actually.
2. There is a meal relief announcer - they are only there to cover major breakdowns - they are not to deputise for the announcer on a break

The recorded anno failed to go to air due to a faulty mini disc - which proves my point that taking live announcers off (or replacing peak sections with recordings) a major reactive channel such as BBC1 is suicide.

I don't believe the papers!
