Tonight's Weatherview was interrupted by a static Newsnight logo slide and silence. This remained on screen for about two minutes before we crashed into the BBC News Channel at 1am. On analogue, the Ceefax signal was lost whilst the Newsnight slide was on air (we had a Ceefax apology page instead). Very odd.

Let's see what happens in the next junction at 1.15am.

No problem with the 1.15 junction. No apology for the cock-up during Weatherview though.

Sounds very strange for a problem in pres to take Ceefax off-air too.

Indeed! I'm not so sure this was a problem in the pres suite though. The loss of Ceefax leads me to suspect that this was some sort of routing fault, external to the pres suite. Seems a bit bizarre though. The Newsnight logo slide is possibly something that was being output from the Newsnight studio?

There was a reasonable picture disturbance on analogue when we cut from the Newsnight slide to the News Channel. Ceefax resumed at that point.

Here's the Ceefax apology page that appeared during the break:

When it crashed into the News Channel, did CEEFAX have the proper regional pages?
