BBC1 new look, Anyone know anything?

Hi

I was wondering if anyone on the forum knew what we should be expecting when the BBC launch their new look in the new year.  Also, is it to happen in January.  

I hope it's not as crap as the relaunched BBC 2, those boxes do nothing for me.

There will be no relaunch of BBC ONE in January. I don't know who started that particular rumour...but it seems to be rampant on this forum...

Sorry, just going by what I'd heard.

All I know waldo, is that BBC One will also get a box, probably red.

I think BBC ONE will be orange actually - red seems to have been reserved for BBC FOUR.

In my opinion it should be:

BBC ONE = orange
BBC TWO = purple
BBC THREE = blue
BBC FOUR = red
BBC AMERICA/CANADA = white
BBC PARLIAMENT = light blue

Roll the box theme out I reckon

bbc news seem to have adopted china red - so i would have imagined news24 would use a red box? - a bit like on bbc news microphones

I know, I was thinking that. But judging by the BBC Four website they seem to have nicked the dark red. I suppose the next best is for News 24 and World to go for red on cream. Although if they use the box theme, they would probably have to re-arrange their whole graphics (or at least modify the positioning slightly).

So the Balloons will stay for a bit longer?

We still don't know for definite that the balloons are going, but since BBC2 changed with a move away from the 1997 generic look, it has become inevitable that BBC1 will also relaunch at some point in the next year, earlier rather than later I imagine.

I think BBC1 will go for a red box; BBC3 and BBC4's colours are anybodys guess. (I wouldn't read too much into the fact that BBC4's website has the logo on a red background).

And I don't think we'll see BBC News 24 or BBC Parliament changing at all; Parliament in particular seems to be something of a 'forgotten' channel, presentation-wise; and how would you fit the word PARLIAMENT into a little box in the corner?

When I was mocking up how they channels would look in my opinion, I must admit there was a bit of difficulty for BBC Parliament!

While I agree that News 24 and Parliament will not change, I still think the box theme is the way forward. I would love it if the BBC rolled it out across ALL channels - I am a fan of standardisation (except in the case of ITV)

I agree - if they've done it on one channel I think they should put it on all of them - standardisation across channels is much better in my opinion. I think if they leave out channels they start to look out-dated (BBC One's centered logo has already started to look more old-fashioned when you switch to it after watching BBC Two). I think News 24 will adopt the box, as we've already seen with the last big ident shake-up, I think the beeb also wants all of it's channels to have the standard look.

In fact, this is how I think it should be on all channels:

- I missed CBeebies, because I didn't know how to write it
- The Sport one is a kind of generic one, anything which isn't a channel basically
- The programmes are made up, apart from those which I have nicked from The TV Room
- I realise that CBBC is getting a makeover, and probably won't be yellow and black anymore
- If the BBC THREE and PRIME colours look the same, they are not. Three is a light blue, Prime is a light green colour
