Are BBC1 and ITV1 stealing each others trail music?

I meant to ask this a few weeks back, but I forgot. I couldn't help noticing that the music used in the trail for Prime Suspect or whatever the new drama on ITV1 this autumn is (there's quite a few) was also used for the Jayne Eyre trail on BBC1 a few weeks back. Also the music for the Life Begins trail on ITV1 a few weeks ago was used in August on BBC1 for The ONE show trail. I don't know what the songs are called. It happened a third time as well, but can't remember which programmes they were.

It's probably nothing, but it's too much of a co-incidence IMO. Am I the only one who's noticed this?

i noticed this as well, couldnt work out where the music for prime suspect had been used before.

I've only noticed the Prime Suspect/Jane Eyre music. ITV have been using that since late August when they started having Prime Suspect teaser adverts (yes, August!).

I think it may have even been late July since the teasers for Prime Suspect began.

July? Deary me. Even Cracker didn't get that sort of promotion. ITV must be expecting big audiences.

Which will probabaly mean they will be disappointed!

The music used on the Prime Suspect and Jane Eyre trail was You Never Know by Goldfrapp. Prime Suspect starts next Sunday.

Broadcasters seem to do this quite a lot, latch onto a particular piece of music, the BBC used Hoppipolla on their Planet Earth trailers and now it's used all over.

ITV1 have just showed a trail for Life Begins tomorrow. It was the same music as before - the one the ONE show used. Do excuse the terrible and unintended pun.

I wouldn't say so. If it gets what Cracker managed to get then I'm sure they'll be pleased.
