are the local links pre-recorded? East midlands all ways have "now on one, east midlands today. With Domonic Heal and Anne Davis"

Yes, they are.

Alan Dedicoat does the announcements for South West.

I've noticed that certain idents are used for certain programming - so much so that sometimes you can work out what will be used. Below is a list of different programming normally used for certain idents.

Acrobats: News and Political Party Broadcasts
Ballet: Times of national reflection
Bollywood: Drama, soaps and other programming
Capoeira: News and serious programming
Festival: Music, quiz shows and children
Haka: Sport, Wildlife and modern murder mysteries (Eg. Spooks)
Hip Hop: Drama, soaps and other programming
Masai: Wildlife and fundraising
Music Video: Music, soaps and other programming
Salsa: DIY, daytime repeats and soaps
Skateboarders: News and current affairs
Tai Chi: News and religious programming
Tango: Drama, soaps and other programming
Tap Dogs: Drama, soaps and other programming
Tumbler: Sport and other programming

This might just be speculation on my part but I have noticed that if ever there is an announcement of 'This is BBC ONE' it most often seems to be Acrobats - perhaps being the default ident in case of problems...?

Not that much thought goes into the choice of ident Laughing I just chose my favourite's

I'm guessing that means you work on presentation. Anyway, what are your favourites?

I like most of them, however there are a couple I don't like!! Tai Chi and Skateboarders.

I quite like Tai Chi but I think Skateboarders is too boring and after you see it for a while you get sick to death of seeing it.

Did everyone get a local version of Ballet at six tonight ?

BBC West Midlands had another reason to use it, besides the Pope, because of the MG Rover situation.

Mind you they've just played Skateboards at 630 though!

No Yorkshire and Lincolnshire had Acrobats with a different announcer - a woman which sounded like Helen Philpot.

I wonder what idents we'll have tomorrow, for the Royal Wedding - I doubt if it will be 'Ballet' as this is for sombre events - but don't all the other idents seem, I don't know, a little upbeat and not suitable for a sophisticated event?
Maybe, you all have different opinions, I'm not a royalist, but I think that 'Skateboarders' and 'Acrobats' wouldn't really suitable.

I'm almost certain it will be Tai Chi after all it's the only 'royal and religious' ident. Then again saying that I once saw Masai into Songs of Praise!
