Request for feedback on programme Idea

Hi guys, I'm researching a prospective production for BBC1 and looking for feedback on initial ideas. Any thoughts/comments would be massively appreciated!
Cheers,
Beth.

Production Plan
To produce a series of short documentary style films based on the BBC1 idents (Capoeira, Skateboarding, Haka, Maasai, Bollywood e.t.c.)
Each film would be a couple of minutes long and cover the background behind one of the styles of performance seen in the idents. It will be similar in style to Jump Britain and Rush Hour .
Initially I will produce a single pilot episode exploring the culture, history and essence of the Afro-Brazillian martial art Capoeira. (Seen performed by two people on a roof top in the BBC1 ident)

Just a couple of questions

Would you be interested in watching it?

When do you think it would fit best in the broadcast schedule?

How long do you think each episode should be?

What kind of information should be included in the programme?

How would it best be delivered? (talking heads/on screen titles/more creative shots with voiceover/ mixture/any other way)

>> How old are you?

Any thoughts/comments would be really helpful and much appreciated Wink

Cheers guys,
Beth

Well why bother? People don't really like the idents so why would we want to watch short films about them? can't you just devise a new ident concept instead?

I don't like the idents, but I actually think explaining more about each dance is actually quite a good idea. Not that I'd watch but I'm sure some of the non-geeky general public would find it interesting viewing.

Well it would certainly explain to people who don't really see the point of these idents a little more about their purpose and also, and perhaps more importantly, a bit about the people who appear in them and the type of 'dance' which they practice. For example a short piece about the guys in the Capoeria (excuse spelling) ident would be interesting. I do feel though that a project like this would have been more beneficial when the idents first started airing - though now people are familiar with them I think this could still work. I can see the best place for a short film of this type would be in the programme junctions (well, where else?) and end with the ident that we have just been 'behind the scenes' of , leading into the following programme.

Personally I don't think it would be much of a ratings winner and would the beeb bother to fit it in to their schedules anywhere?

I think you'd have to have some BBC 'weathered personality' out there doing it - ie someone with a deep voice goes out and looks at the culture.

I have images of Jeremy Bowen (don't know why!) in Brazil at a local dance club watching people try out the different moves and explaining the significance. Perhaps a quick bit of history then followed, as suggested, by the ident.

Also, wouldn't mind hearing the voices of the people that actually FEATURE in the idents!

A seven o'clock slot - just after the weather - would be perfect for this I reckon.

I don't think they'd intend it to be a ratings winner though - more of a filler between programmes, which would be different than back to back programme promotions.
