Well there must be a fair few of them knocking around. Every English region, and all the nations, as well as Network, had them. They were replaced by laser disc players (which were poorer quality technically, but more versatile artistically!)

I know of one engineer from an English region who had a COW at home for a while...

Just spotted this..

Quote:
Q: Did you crop off the BBC1 lettering beneath the globe, or does it not in fact generate that?

A: It does generate the lettering with subcaption(this is done by the ceefax option, originally designed to overlay the 888 when required). This globe has different lettering from the ones shown on the website. It has the 'slanted' BBC logo, with the lines under each charachter, with the ceefax option board displaying the caption 'worldwide'. The 'red codes' for all the other logos are listed in the manual and images of the eproms are still held on server by BBC R&D at Kingswood Warren, so it could probably be changed if required.

Ah, it'll be the one used for BBWS for a while after 1991.

There are people intending to bid who want to donate the machine to a museum.
