That wouldn't go down well. One of the acrobats that was on that ident died. I think it might have been because something like that happened.
No they didn't. The acrobat who died was a friend of those who took part in the ident; at first, the BBC thought it was one of their acrobats and the ident was withdrawn for 24 hours.

Sorry. I still don't think it's a good idea someone falling off the strings though.
The thing is, making mocks of the idents has all ready been done when they were first launched. I think they will be looking for something a bit different and besides there aren't any appropiate ideas for evening television.
Personally I thought the mocks of Hip Hop and Peter Kay were rather poor. If they do have a mock ident they need to think of something a little better.

This "we can't do that in case it offends someone" mentality has gone too far. If it was done for Comic Relief, people would realise it was a spoof so why not?
I'm just glad I got out of hospital radio when I did. Things are now so ridiculously PC - you can't say "Oh God" in case it offends other faiths and there are a whole list of songs banned from the playlist, such as "Every Breath You Take" which
might
be seen as insensitive to patients on ventilators. Better not play "I've Got You Under My Skin" then - some dermatology patient might complain...

The BBC 'acrobats' ident was removed as a mark of respect for the death of the choreographer. Plus, if you notice it was slightly edited to remove a piece of dance - that was the lady in questions 'trademark'. The BBC were quoted at the time as saying:
The BBC is saddened to hear of the death of [name escapes me]. In respect, Ident 'Acrobats' will be removed until further notice.
The lady in questions family asked the BBC to continue showing the ident.

Actually, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember that being done already. I think it was in an episode of French and Saunders, and Dawn French was the one who unravelled from the ceiling only to fall with a thud. Or was I dreaming!?
I know this is going off topic, but E4 did a spoof of the old ITV1 celeb idents. With some old man coming on, and throwing rubbish around or something. Don't know the full detail.
