After seeing a little update on the TV Room site all this came to me so sorry to spring this up so early but lets face it, It's only 4 months away.
Anyway if you remember what the BBC done to BBC1 at christmas time in 2003 will remember that they re-used the previous years ident. This was due to the idents 'popularity' but whoever believes that believes anything. I suspect it was just a matter of them not bothering to make some new ones.
But then we come to last years idents and yes it's something new, yes it was made by a 12 year old girl but again it gets based around the theme of children which I technically call repeating last years ident just give them space hoppers to bounce on this time.
Now this year I hope the BBC really thinks about what they're going to do this year as I think it's about now (maybe a bit later) that they would start to plan & film them. I'm hoping we get rid of those awful children and try something thats even remotely 'christmassy'.
Now if the 1999 & 2000 idents are anything to go by then the BBC can get this spectacularly right. Just will they be prepared to put the time, money & effort to make them what they were? I very much doubt it but it would be nice. But I know theres more to life than what christmas is going to look like but they are a symbol of everyones christmas I feel as without them, It probably just feel like a normal day.
Anyway what do you think? Will the BBC be bothered ever again or could children be the symbol of our televisual christmas for a long time?
