A new comedy "One For Christmas" promo was shown before Holby City - for comedy programmes.
It was more upbeat.

But they launched on Saturday 17th December last year, so I wouldn't call it 'too early' surely.
The problem with airing them so far in advance before Christmas means that they get a full weeks run through before Christmas, which is incredibly tedious when it is the same ident over and over again in every junction.
I personally think that they should launch on either Friday 22nd or Saturday 23rd December and they will probably disappear again on Wednesday 3rd January.
A good launch date would be Wednesday 20th. If, as predicted, they disappear on Wednesday 3rd January then this would give the idents a full 2 week run. im sure this would be a fair compromise and it would mean the idents wouldnt get too tedious.

I think the idents will appear on Thursday December 21st at 7pm and disappear after closedown on New Year's Day. They definetely wont appear next weekend as a trailer promoting Born Equal for next Sunday had a normal endboard. Since 2004, the trails have had the Christmas sparkle for Christmas programmes shown using the festive ident.

Any idea as to what the BBC1 Christmas ident is this year or is it all very hush hush... for once!
I'd like to see a family entering their home after being out in the snow and the front door closing to reveal a holly wreath.

Local paper gets its knickers in a twist over Christmas trail
Sunday Mercury posted:
THE BBC was at the centre of an unholy Christmas row last night after using a Satanic rock song to promote its festive programmes.
Embarrassed Beeb bosses called an emergency meeting after the Sunday Mercury exposed the black magic blunder – and have now taken the shock tune off air.

That would be quite good - and I suppose they could use the word "one" from BBC one in the style of brass door numbers....
