It's a bit dull to look at, but it captures the "spirit of Christmas" - everybody coming together and ... well... making a big snowball.

However, just the one ident may get boring by new year...we'll have to wait and see.

I got bored of it after the first time quite honestly.

Unlike everyone else I actually waited until the ident was on television to see it for the same time. I don't think it's too bad at all, though anything's better than those awful idents with kids in silly costumes we've had to suffer for the past four years. However I'd like to know where this community actually is, it must be the only place in the country where it actually snows at Christmas! As for stings/bumpers/animations I wouldn't be surprised if they've gone, I never understood why they continued to use them only at Christmas.

So there are stings this christmas. I think they should have a day and a night version.

I agree with the above - the best idents were with the BBC1 Globe. This christmas has no real distinction of christmas (apart from a few Christmas lights and bells in the music).

Its not creative.

So far, I've been rather dissapointed with Christmas pres on channels.

To be honest I always thought the BBC 1 Xmas Idents from 1991-1996 were the best.

I always said they should have kept that "1", at least it would have been some sort of symbol. I suppose at least though the current BBC one tag is some sort of symbol.

Haven't seen this years one yet so can't judge it yet but it don't look to bad

Not bad - not that good, but not bad.

I loved last years though, I thought it was really quirky and unusual and caught your eye.

Sting just aired. Of a little kid pushing a snowball from high up. With a little ding ding ding dong. Laughing

If anything, 1996 looked the least Christmassy, 2006 has more explicit festive references. 1991 was also disappointing.

One suggestion for Snowball - perhaps an alternate version with everyone in Victorian costume?

Apologies for the Press Red prompt, didn't realise it was there when I was recording!
