An improvement definately - visually it's not bad - a bit more colour might be nice (and at least it's not a bauble) - but the music is pretty awful IMO!

Is their just one christmas ident?

The form up of it looks nice but that end shot IMO really looks poor. It appears to me as though it is just a superimposed white/cream circle on top of a crowd of people in the village as opposed to looking as though there really is a snowball as part of the actual scene. It's a shame that this is the part that will be seen the most (with the short and news version as well).

I liked the one last year, even though the music was too sinister for Christmas, and I think, now that I look back, that Snowflake of 2002 and 2003 was the best of recent years helped by a good soundtrack.
I didn't like Bouncy Puddings at all and it wasn't long before that really got on my nerves.

It's crap, very dull. Last year's was better.

There haven't been that many really good BBC1 Christmas idents since we said goodbye to the globe. And how come local channels have been showing it already? I thought they weren't supposed to.

I must say I am rather dissapointed - the snowball is'nt that inventive.

To be perfectly honest I prefer the snowing kids.

Didn't see any stings though. Have they just not been played yet, or did Red Bee not bother with any? We've always seen them in past years.

Absolutely awful. Much worse then any of the dancing kids IMO.

I agree with the above - the best idents were with the BBC1 Globe. This christmas has no real distinction of christmas (apart from a few Christmas lights and bells in the music).

Its not creative.

So far, I've been rather dissapointed with Christmas pres on channels.

I have to disagree. I think "Snowball" is far more interesting visually than kids running and jumping around as snowflakes and puddings. I like the cartoony idea of "a community coming together" to build a massive snowball, although it is abit cheesy. I agree that the colour scheme is less glitzy than previous years, but i feel it has a modern and warm appearance...and is Christmasy. The various camera shots mean you will notice more and more things in the ident each time. However, just the one ident may get boring by new year...we'll have to wait and see.
