See, that's where I disagree. I actually liked those idents. They were genuinely Christmassy. This one does absolutely nothing for me I'm afraid.

I agree with you on that point - to me it it feels more like a winter ident than a Christmas one (excluding the music obviously).

But nice.

Maybe the BBC are going with the whole political correctness thing now? Confused

Grr! I had hoped all that nonsense went out the window with the previous BBC ONE look.

But then maybe you've missed the window lights and the Christmas tree in the new ident. Which I think is rather good.

The Christmas ident has just been shown on BBC One East for local programming. Was OK, if a bit short (although it's likely they played a short version of it). Can't really describe it better than it was described earlier in the thread. It ends with a wide shot with the giant snowball in the centre with the circle being formed by sparkles. The music is just a christmasy version of the normal theme.

eh...? i thought it was launching TOMORROW! whats going on?!?

bbc news always show it a week early
the bbc east version was probably a news variant

Very poor indeed.

Live action never works as well as animation or a model.

I like it, I Iike the community feel of everyone coming together to make this giant ball of snow and I like the music.

However, what with the same geezers at the start and the same 'pre-recorded-ness' of the video, it might tire quite quickly.

I like it. At least it feels more "family" related, rather than wierd children marching around a cone carrying baubles! It would be nice to have different angled versions, as well as short/long/sombre ones and some stings.

I'm not sure about it. Though real player doesnt work that well on my PC so I will have to wait till 18:00 tonight. Musics nice and christmasy unlike last years.

The ident shown last night on BBC One East to introduce The Greatest Show on Earth (we didn't get My Family, despite what the EPG and Radio Times said) was definately slightly different to the one on the website. The music was less defined so could be a pre-news version.

its allright, if a bit plain. a bit balloon-esque, with admittedly poorer music. the snowflakes and last years ident was a tad better though

The music is really festive. Lovely. The images however seem very dull and more 'winterfest' than Christmas. Rolling Eyes

I'll be interesting what the announcement says at 6.30pm tonight. Usually it's something like "Christmas starts here on BBC One", but, erm, it's the 16th December!

Though to be honest I think it'll be less easy to get fed up with this one than the big shiny balls from last year - it's a lot more subtle. Almost missable though.
