Well, it'll be interesting to see what BBC1 has in store this year. I wouldn't be too surprised if children are used again, but I'm looking forward to hearing the music in the style of the new BBC1 tune.

Before you say it, no it's not too early too speculate IMO. I was thinking, surely this year's ident has already been made, at the same time as the others. The new set of idents only debuted a few weeks back, so the Christmas ident may well have been shown in-house already. My apologies if I'm wrong.

Trawling through TV & Radio Bits, I noticed that the ident used on BBC1 ten years ago would have been quite appropriate - you have to look at it too see why. All they'd have to do is replace the "1" in the closet for the BBCone logo. That would be lazy, but going on what BBC1 did three years ago, nothing would surprise me.

It'll also be interesting if they use stings at every junction again. If they don't use the circle theme in each sting, then they may well look like the previous era's stings. Another thing is whether or not the BBCone logo will have the glitter effects. I think it would look a shambles if they did, being as though the logo is not contained.

There's already been at least 2 threads speculating since August at least!

I checked with the BBC Press Office, the Christmas highlights will be published on Monday 27 November. The week between 15-22 December comes out tommorrow.

Yes I noticed this on the Press Office website too. Does this mean that this year's Christmas double issue will be covering the two weeks from 23rd Dec until the 5th Jan 2007?
In the past the Christmas double issue's would have started on the 16th Dec and go up to 29th Dec and the New Year issue comes out a few days later. It seems this year they are covering both Christmas and New Year TV listings in one mag which is better.
Does anyone know when the early Christmas schedules (the TBA one's Smile ) are out this year? I read on a thread that it could be as early as this Thursday.

Oohhh.... it' snot really Christmas till the Xmas TV Guides come out - particularly the early ones! Laughing

As I said, I thought it was usually the last Thursday in November - but it could be this Thursday (23rd) so keep an eye out - and The Mirror is usually the best one to buy.

Yep, bloomin Christmas schedules are always the same. All the channels seem to show "To Be Confirmed" every year.

No, don't be silly, Joe's a highly trained and well respected senior surgeon.

That's whet he told us, at any rate.

Well I'm pleased to see that the Christmas trails on BBC1 have been shown. It was better than last year's IMO.

I saw the Christmas trail tonight (Saturday) and must admit the format they are using is same old, same as. Considering they were meant to have had a new look, there's nothing particularly new about the way they are promoting Christmas. Same old glittery effect except not on shutters, but bursting from circles. I prefer the old style Christmas trails of a decade ago.....but that's because I'm an old git!
