From programme information on the BBC media centre pages, it looks like daytime are wrapping up for the year on 15th December. The Father Brown Christmas special being on 10th December - or at least during that week. So, Christmas programming looks as if it will start properly on 16th December. I suspect the Christmas idents will have launched a week before that though.
Sunday 10th seems to have David Attenborough overkill though, with Blue Planet II ending and then Attenbvorough and the Elephant at 9pm.
One week today and the BBC press release of their Christmas programming will be published. Usually we get a hint of the BBC1 Christmas theme, so will it be a gold background like last year, or something new? Only 7 days until we find out.
I'd rather watch David Attenborough programming on a constant loop than some of the absolute drivel that passes for TV programming or "entertainment" these days.

I think the background will be something new this year.
The 2016 background gave no real clue to the idents that followed.

It will be a camera pointing to a rotating turkey 😉
