I do think this package highlights how important the sound track to a channel is, something that's been missing from BBC1 all year. Quite quickly Symphony has become the signature tune to BBC1 this Christmas and as with any good ident soundtrack acts as a call to armchairs when you hear it on the TV.
Great clip. Thanks for that BBCME. When I first watched the video, I honestly thought Arvid Harnqvist (the guy on the right), saying about Oneness "where people have had a sh*te experience", then realised he said "where people have had a shared experience". Funny how your ears can sometimes deceive you with what you're expecting to hear

It’s a decent song but I would have preferred something traditional and Christmassy:-)

Yes, the song was chosen because it is the type of song the 10 year old would have listened to. When I was 10, I loved hearing Christmas songs because I still got excited for Christmas, I see no evidence from my own experience that children have stopped listening to Christmas songs. However, isn't the point of the film the little girl dancing to her favourite pop song at the School talent contest? Therefore, the song fits and is festive enough to make the idents feel Christmassey.

They've being choosing songs which aren't particularly christmassy for a few years now, so it's no surprise. I hear, from the video that BBCME kindly posted, the production company initially considered Symphony, then looked at countless others, and came full circle back to Symphony again.

Yes, NW first used it on 02-12-2017, at 7.28am. I captured it's first outing, it seems to be the same as your picture, same two programmes shown on my cap. Let me know if you want me to upload the video clip.

tbh, I'm not sure. I don't recall seeing it when scanning through my captures. I would be surprised if it's never used as there's no point in making it if it won't get any use (though, I'm mindful of the Eclipse Balloon ident from BITD!). I'll let you know if I spot it again.
