The worst ident for me is the fixing of the Christmas lights. You can only really ever show that as a short ident as they seem to do the same fist pump celebration every time the lights are fixed.

Overall looking at BBC One's Twitter, it seems to be positively received, mainly the promo.

Many of the comments are applauding the subtle touches within, mainly wen the dad refuses to do the cartwheel during the fantasy dance sequence.

Overall... not bad. Not great but not bad. I think whatever the BBC put out this Christmas would be seen as an improvement compared to their usual idents over the past year. There's no comparison.

The promo film is nice. It would be perfect for a commercial. It does John Lewis better than John Lewis. The problem for me is the idents.

They idents are fine and model people doing Oneness is more inventive than just pointing a camera at randoms in a field. It feels like some effort has gone into making these compared to people on film with a logo slapped over it. But they're not very Christmassy to me. Actually, I'll put it a different way. They don't put me in a Christmas mood like other BBC Christmas idents have over the years.

I can't explain it.

What loop is there on the Washing up ident? every time it's different piece of curtley, Spatula, then a fork, then a knife. ?

You can see the Dad's foot jump before each item of cutlery is handed over, so the dancing is looped.

Does it really matter?

Meh, I'm just being pedantic.

Seems we haven't seen the last of the Strictly ident this Christmas after all. It was just used in the 7:20pm junction.

Yes, I thought that was quite odd. The washing up ident is perfect for Strictly!

Is the overall message of the ident that even though you only have 2 people together for Christmas you can still dance and have a great time?

I'm sure there's lots of little messages in there but it seems to have connected with some single parents the most from looking through twitter.

It also seems to have connected with a handful of people who are very cross that the family aren't white... To paraphrase Charlie Brooker, I take comfort in the fact that these people will eventually die.

You'd have to be an incredibly sad person to only judge it by the colour of the character's skin than the actual concept.

There does seem to be a lot of negativity on here about the new ident- which I don't have a problem with, as everyone is entitled to their opinion. Personally, I think it's a nice change from what has gone before. Let's face it, a lot of pres fans (myself included) expected something similar to the Oneness idents we've been getting since January. The fact we've got something quite different to those is a bonus in itself. I quite like these new idents and although I still prefer the "golden days" of Christmas idents in the 80s and 90s ("when I were a lad"), I think that TV presentation is a whole different beast nowadays.

The endboards are lovely. And the wintry scene for the news ident is beautiful.
