That kettle ident does seem quite different to the rest of them mind, with no Oneness tagline, music or appearance of the two characters. Indeed it almost looks more like it was intended as another news/serious one but has possibly just been let out for other shows.

Yes, it and the landscape idents were the ones I've seen as news versions
Now that we’ve seen almost all of the idents for this month-long package, I’d like to say that these are probably the best Christmas idents for BBC One, since 2014.
Well produced from a technical, and thematic standpoint, and miles better than what we’ve got for 2015 and 2016.
Kudos, BBC Creative. Almost two years since it was formed, this is their best project yet, especially seeing that we’ve seen 11 months of the dreary Oneness idents.
A very well written and crafted story with stunning animation with such attention to detail.
Like others, I'm not sure that is connects to BBC One or particularly Christmas, but it's going the way of the Christmas advertising campaigns.
I prefer it to last year's, but there's not really any competition there.
I like what BBC Northern Ireland have done. It would be nice to see some more of the stings and short pieces of film adapted into idents.
I don't think the loops are as noticeable as with the sprout boy campaign, even though from the earlier posted video of the lights ident, I expect that it was about to into them waving their arms into the air before it cut off.
One other thing, I can understand the logo sitting at the bottom of the screen so that it doesn't cover the father & daughter, but would the logo not sit better centre screen on the landscape ident?
I don’t dislike what BBC One have done this year, the animation is nice. However, I do wonder how well it suits the channel. You could quite easily see it as an advert for any supermarket or shop.
It doesn't feel that festive to me, and says nothing about BBC One or its programs. The idents are also quite uninspired. I suppose the effort is there though.
Edit: That menu is really nice, it’s a shame everything else doesn’t come off quite as festive. The ‘Symphony’ melody is also lovely, although I do wonder if they should have made a couple of versions.

Perhaps interesting to note that BBC One didn't opt for groups of people standing together in a festive scenario, filmed by Martin Parr.
Watching the Xmas idents back this morning whilst flicking through this thread I think they're alright. I felt NI's version of the landscape one used for the news was better due to the music. I thought it was interesting to note the idents appear to show a single parent family, and that the two main characters are non-white. Perhaps a reflection of modern society, and BBC wanting to reflect this (and coincidentally ticking a diversity box).
