Getting back on topic after a rather controversial interval, I doubt whatever BBC1 provide for their Christmas Pres this year, it won't match this:

Something to tide us over:

The bells chiming in the ident has just the right Christmas magic feel to it. 2006 that was, and 11 years later we can only hope it will just as good.

What time do we think they'll appear this year? Didn't they appear rather early last year?

Saturday 2nd December before Strictly.

It's a bit harder to call the launch date of BBC1's Christmas pres in recent years. The last time they launched before Strictly was 2013.

In 2014, they started on Saturday 6th December but in the junction AFTER Strictly.

In 2015, the Sprout Boy idents launched on Tuesday 1st December into Eastenders.

In 2016, they were launched on Sunday 4th December during the 8pm junction.

Having said all that, my guess for this year would also be Saturday 2nd December.

I would go for the Sunday personnley.

I think they'll use the final Blue Planet II episode to launch their Christmas Idents as they used Planet Earth II last year. It makes sense to do that. Also, Advent starts on December 3rd so at 8pm on that day seems apt.

It will be interesting to see if Scotland goes with a different starting point like last year.

Not the junction between Strictly and Michael Mcintyre on the 2nd?
Fair few pairs of eyes watching at that point in the evening.

Yes, Scotland used Bauble to launch the Christmas idents, whereas England, Wales and NI started with Christmas Jumper.

Only last years idents were much better than anything we’ve seen since well made and perfect for Christmas.

I'd hope for something vaguely fantastical and not a missing in action Morrison's mascot or a slice of unreal life that only exists in adverts.

2014 was spot on "BBC One at Christmas" - concept, execution, production values, music choice all achieved.
