BBC1 Christmas 2017 Idents

Please - Don't (one)mess up the Christmas idents this year (November 2017)

I was thinking that as well. I wonder what they will do for soundtrack as some idents for news in the past have just had sparkles sound whilst others have had music on.
I wonder if they might use the slowed down version of Symphony used here


It would have been nice to have more of the song done in this style as it sounds more christmassy than the normal lyrical version of the song.

They never used to be around long enough. Then there was The really horrible period in 89/90 where there didn’t turn up well into the evening on Christmas Eve on BBC1. I would prefer them appearing a week before Christmas as it doesn’t feel very Christmassy having them introduce Panorama.

It was always ridiculous going back to the boring normal globe on the 27th December.

As is blantently obvious these days it's a promotional tool first, ident second, so that'll be why the ident so launch at the same time as the promotions.

Well that was a little disappointing. News ident looked lovely, but the only sound was a very slight wind sound effect. It needs a little something, even just the sparkle sound they've used previously would have helped.

I just watched the full ad for the very first time.. I think BBC One has won Christmas. I’m not even using that lightly, I am actually astonished that they’ve gone from the meh-ness of last year to having Christmas presentation that’s better than this years John Lewis efforts. I can’t understand where the negativity is coming from because this is a very good sign...
Don’t screw it up, BBC.

Well, the ident package thus far is very good. BBC Creative have proven they can create good idents if necessary. This is by far the best ident package since 2014. And miles better than last year's dreary package.
