YAY Finally someone else who remembered that trail!! It's probably the best one they've come up with - I wonder if anyone has a copy kicking around somewhere...
After the "ding dang ding dong, gotta lot of fings on..." it started with something like:
Here we are, there's lots of fun here, we're the Number One (Bruce Forsyth)
Why don't you make a date - the family show, where everyone plays the game! (Rosemary Ford - both Gen Game)
and then about FOUR MORE VERSES all promoting their best shows - as you said including Jim Davison and then ending with Noel's House party
(Noel on a piano with Mr Blobby) Down at Crinkly Bottom, we'll all be joining in
So join us for a Christmas full of fun!
(All the stars together) Here on BBC ONE!
(DING - as a sparkle appears on the BBC1 logo!)
Aaaah reminiscing! I do hope someone has a cap of that buried somewhere that they could post here or email....?

I vaguely remember that one, I don't know whether I have it on one of my old videos still or not. I'll have a look later on today.
I think from the same one, I remember...
Jim D.: "Rub my lamp and hear him say..."
John V. "Pot as many balls as you can"
From there I'm sure it went to some clip with Noel Edmunds in.

Today?! Now they're just taking the mick. Are they having to use it for as long as possible to justify its cost? The lack of turnover of BBC One/Two idents and specials would suggest the budget really has been cut back over the past few years.
I shall reserve proper judgement of course but shame the kids remain IMO.
