BBC1 Yorkshire used the "Skateboarders" ident again at 6:00PM. Such a shame really. It does feel strange seeing the Christmas ident launching, then you see a regular one again after two days. They're a set o' scrooges up north!

Here is the quote I was looking for from 20th December.

Yeah, here it is here. Why didn't they use the full ident? Thats why its there!

Exactly! That's nearly £100,000 wasted on an ident that's never used. While the ident itself probably isn't most suitable to introduce news like that, the music's perfect IMO. I personally think that Ballet should be used more. I think it's more appropriate for introducing, say, the news or Crimewatch than Capoeira or Tai-Chi.

There is something hugely significant about silence. The use of a musical symbol would have been totally innappropriate.

You know, when they killed the character Adrick in Docor Who (heroically) they played the end credits on a black screen in total silence. It was spine tingling.

I think I was a little more moved by that than the Queen Mum's death, if truth be told.

Another thing I noticed that ahead of the one o' clock news (I think so anyway) on Monday December 20th, BBC ONE Yorkshire used Skateboarders yet this was after the Christmas Puddings had been launched

Congratulations for noticing this - but it's a bit late to tell everyone isn't it? Besides, BBC1 Yorshire viewers, like myself, noticed this on the 20th December and have already talked about it: (there's a quote on the next post).

I understand that it's a little late but at least I did bother to write something even if it is two weeks after it happened

Well why did they make it with music?

It wasn't made specifically for the Queen Mother's death; that's just the way it turned out.

Yes and I think I'm right in saying that if she had died 2 days earlier we'd have seen a (silent, still) slide of one of the balloon idents
