Had a quick look around the related threads but haven't seen anyone mention the fantastic close of BBC One last night with a certain announcer extraordinaire Dean Lydiate!
Mention of the pudding's last showing, the fact they won't be at TVC next Christmas, wishing us well, a namecheck...! Superb.
Enjoy! 891kb

Cracking announcement Dean - knew you'd give the puddings a great send-off! But why does continuity need to move out of TVC into some mass playout centre, and how will this affect what we see and hear on screen?

I think the fact that BBC Broadcast is being sold might have more effect on the output than the move to a new building (although there are bound to be teething problems over the next couple of weeks).

BBC Broadcast, the company that transmits the BBC's television channels (and employs the BBC tv announcers) will be sold this year to an outside company (e.g. BT). This is part of Mark Thompson's review of the way the BBC operates.
So, what sort of changes could this entail?

Seems like a daft idea to me and likely to cause chaos. I wonder if the BBC channels could accidently fall off air in the switch over between the BBC controlling it and the indepentent company taking over. Long term I can see it costing more money than it currently does.

That shouldn't happen. The new media centre next to TVC is more than likely to remain the home, so the only thing that would change is who owns the company.

Surely an outside company like BT wouldn't really care to make changes, except to cut costs..?
