Looks like something that belongs on a children's channel. Very cutesy.

I agree. I think it's ok. I quite like the music, a big improvement on the previous version although I'm not sure how that's going to sound going into the news.

The problem I have is the same with the last one really, and that it's all a bit CBeebies, it'd be fine going into the Teletubbies, but for the UK's mainstream TV channel ???

It's very twee isn't it. Not sure about the music, I think I prefer the music used in previous years.

It'll be interesting to see how it fits going into the Ten on Monday...

What with it launching so early this year, I'm sure we will be sick to death of it before long. It'll no doubt be in every junction for at least 14 days!

Quite pleased with the stings aswell - although the presenter said that their were five versions, he meant that there were 4 stings and 1 main ident.
It's amazing how similar the main ident is to last year's. It begins with the face of one child bouncing, but the camera pulls back to reveal many more children having fun. I'm pleased that the colour red theme is being used aswell, as I was worried that they'd forget about this. Hopefully we'll see a formal ident for the news tomorrow, though the audio seems inappropriate to introduce it. The four stings shown were:

1)One child bouncing on its own down a path with two others walking behind.
2)Three children resting from the bouncing and socialising.
3)Five children in a row and the one on the far left unfortunaletly bounces away.
4)Three children pumping up their pudding hoppers

By the way - has anyone noticed, although I may be very mistaken, that all the children bouncing are girls. I haven't seen a boy at all.

This is it - the day we've all been waiting for - SATURDAY 18TH! In less than 18 hours, the BBC1 ident will be on air as it debuts after the news at 5:45PM. I can't wait!
The amazing thing is that this is the earliest time the festive BBC idents have ever been shown - the current record being on the 20th last year. There is still one full week to go before Christmas Day and two full weeks before New Year's Day 2005 - fantastic!

Everyone enjoy this new ident - even if you don't like it at least try, and I'll look forward to discussions this evening when it launches.

That set would have worked well but I'm sure somebody mentioned somewhere that not all 12 days were used (either as idents or various other promo packages) so it was kinda pointless.

Still upset about lack of new 2 though

I wonder which one of the regular idents will be the last one to be shown at 5:15pm before the news? Obviously one of the formal idents - probably "Skateboarders" as this is almost always used as the regional ident for BBC1 Yorkshire & Lincolnshire. Sometimes it may be "Acrobats", and rarely "Tai Chi".

It is now only used to lead into sombre events or news reports.

Hmm... I don't think much of these new Christmas idents - very substandard, aren't they?

What are the chances of seeing a regional Christmas ident in England? Doesn't look good with the news and local news being interconnected.

well according to "bbc scotland" the xmas ident launches later today

so ... in terms of bbc english regions opportunities to use them, they'd have monday - friday of this week (1.00, 6.00, 6.30, 10.00)

maybe its down to each region to edit a version for themselves. bbc midlands have been quite good in recent years at using xmas idents. doesn't look too hopeful for the bbc regions that haven't yet put a tree up though Confused
