Already in the doldrums over Crowngate, the BBC was hit last night by one of its worst Thursday peak-time ratings performances ever.

Put some blooming entertainment on and they will come!!!
Proper entertainers, in shows that families can sit down and watch!
Not painters and decorators, not gardeners, not cooks, not women trying to squeeze into frocks!!!
It's such a simple answer!!!!!!

Rant over.

Things like Dance X don't help, even just seeing it trailed I think "oh god, no again". Why do the BBC/ITV seem to think I care who can dance/sing/ice skate best? Show me normal people doing things, not wanna be celebs or f list celebs. Bring back Krypton Factor, The Gen Game, etc..

The Beeb have been obsessed with naval gazing when things go wrong. Crowngate is a classic example of banging on about a simple mistake.

If they spent as much time creating new innovative programming the ratings would be better.

The worst programme on last night was "The Big Day"

A programme about getting ready for a wedding? Isn't that something that should be on at 10.30am or as a weekly feature on The One Show?

and presented by Nick Knowles Rolling Eyes

Oh don't knock Nick Knowles - I'm sure he's lined up for his own Lottery (2012) programme anytime soon.

/sarcasm.

Seriously though, BBC1 seem to be obsessed with lifestyle, crap drama, a 'dead in the water' soap opera and dance talent shows- its getting boring. Put some decent comedy back on!

Were you joking there, fella? Cos it's true.

Starts Septemberish.

Also, coming in August to BB Cone, "Me and My Caravan".

The only good thing about that show was that my local music shop, Electro Music, was featured.

Yes, right now I wouldn't mind something a bit new on. There's repeats of Open All Hours or like last night with One Foot In The Grave but we've been there before, and they're further rendered pretty useless for anyone who has already got UKTV Gold.

Going back a while they had a series on with Nicholas Lyndhurst in it which I completely overlooked but is due to return.

But I watched the sitcom Not Going Out back in October; on the face of it, it was full of Lee Mack and Tim Vine making puns at every opportunity, but I actually quite enjoyed it!

Do you mean 'AFTER YOU'VE GONE'? It's back this Autumn.

Yay! I liked that programme.

Could have sworn, at first glance, that first "a" in the thread title was an "o".

I'll go then, seeing as we're not talking about chickens.
