The ballet ident is only used for "times of national reflection", I believe.
It will be linked to the Pope,so it probably won't be used for the Royal wedding.
Uncle Bruce...
To the guys defence I've heard a number of "BBC People" on here refer to it as an ident of "National Reflection" One poster even went as far as to label the ident "The Death Dancers" - excellent!
Edit, Ive just found this from TV Forum, Note the Ballet title:
Acrobats: News and Political Party Broadcasts
Ballet: Times of national reflection
Bollywood: Drama, soaps and other programming
Capoeira: News and serious programming
Festival: Music, quiz shows and children
Haka: Sport, Wildlife and modern murder mysteries (Eg. Spooks)
Hip Hop: Drama, soaps and other programming
Masai: Wildlife and fundraising
Music Video: Music, soaps and other programming
Salsa: DIY, daytime repeats and soaps
Skateboarders: News and current affairs
Tai Chi: News and religious programming
Tango: Drama, soaps and other programming
Tap Dogs: Drama, soaps and other programming
Tumbler: Sport and other programming
You can always tell when something bads happened they pop up! Pitty you know, its one of the "better" idents and its shoved away, pitty they couldn't have taken that approach with Tai Chi....
Thanks for crediting me Matrix.
I suppose you're right. If you haven't heard and you see the ballet dancers then you know something bad as happened. All though i think it should be the default 'national reflection' ident, I think it should also be used for more serious news, royal programmes and religious programmes.
As for tomorrow's wedding, I bet anything it will be Tai Chi. Odds are probably at 1-2!

That would be a brilliant ident, like everything to do with this farce it goes t*ts up
Ballet as an ident was dropped for mainstream use quite a while ago. (Nothing to do with the E4 spoof I'm sure)
It is now reserved for use when programmes need a suitably sombre introduction - in many ways the music is more sombre than the visual imagery.... (Though bouncy Christmas Puddings were deemed appropriate to introduce the Tsunami bulletins...)
