What BBC1 and 2 could have looked like in 1991

Is it just me or does the 1990 BBC 1 test ident music remind me of 1997?

Also, we'll probably need to reconstruct these logos for sites like Logopedia!

I'm actually working on some mocks for this, basically exploring ways of improving these tests to see how they could be incorpated on air properly. It's more of an experiment I think.

While working on this, I have discovered that the BBC II trailer font could be Arial Black (if not it's definitely one of the Arial ones). Can anyone suggest what the BBC 1 trailer font is?

Looks a lot like Myriad to me

I think it's Optima, which was already being used on BBC1 programme slides at the time.

Even if these aren't the exact fonts, they should help with your mock.

Interesting to see, although as others have said here they do look rather dated even for 1990.

Shame that BBC worldwide have blocked the other video on copyright grounds.

I imagine if they had gone ahead with the idea they'd probably have refined it somewhat. But what we got was still better anyway.

Somebody in the Youtube comments suspects it was a "rough draft" that the BBC gave to the likes of Lambie Nairn to give them an idea of what they wanted.

It's definitely Optima. You can spot it from a mile off.

Also, does anyone notice the BBC logo is slightly different to the actual 1988 (used from 1991) logo?
