We know that BBC America was sold by BBC Worldwide. So during the MadMen series finale this weekend. BBC AMERICA, IFC, WeTV and Sundance Channel all shutdown and displayed these slides.

Seems a little self-defeating to me. They're basically saying if you don't want to watch Mad Men, you'll have to watch a channel that isn't owned by them. Because that's what people want, less choice...!

And if you're half way through the series or have it on a "to watch" list the last thing you'll want to do is jump ahead to the finale.

I think you'd know to go to AMC if you cared at all about the series rendering this entirely pointless. As you say Phil, I would be very surprised if any numbers gained through this stunt were not outweighed by viewers lost to other networks.

Yeah and they also handed over operational control to AMC Networks.

From Deadline.com
Quote:
AMC Networks paid $200 million and will receive 49.9% of the equity in BBC America and have operational control including affiliate and advertising sales. AMC says it will “run it consistent with BBC’s editorial standards and policies” and will include financials in its quarterly results. BBC America will continue to be managed as a stand-alone channel.

Yeah this Man Men finale shut down showed its certainly still being managed as a stand alone channel. Rolling Eyes
This channel has been so badly run and scheduled for years now by BBCWW. It only seems to be getting worse after the virtual sale of the channel. I rarely even watch it anymore. Sad.
