I can't find it mentioned anywhere else, but lately BBC Worldwide has gained a new logo, still the same BBC logo but in a multi coloured square background, it's being used on new DVD releases etc as you might expect. But I couldn't help but notice earlier they've started to put it in programmes, on a 2009 episode of Top Gear on Dave the logo appeared on screen on the opening credits, in place of the standard BBC logo, and then again as a new style endcap that appears for about 3 seconds or so. Although this isn't the first time the latter has been done when BBC programmes are shown on UKTV, it's quite interesting to see the BBC doing this on TV now.

Anyone else seen it?

That one? I'm sure that one is over a year old.

Yeh it's that logo, I've seen it about here and there, but I can say I've only seen it used on TV since this week and on DVD's on very recent releases. I guess it's just to make it stand out from the normal BBC.

Yes, I think it's nice myself (I'm not a fan of gradient box logos,but that one is alright)

Yep, the latest series of Top Gear started on Dave yesterday. The colourful BBC logo had an animation of small circles.

They used to put BBC logo slides on the end of their programmes many years ago, many were still used long after the logo changed

Hopefully this will avoid the continuity from saying "Created for/by the BBC, chosen by Dave" at the end of programmes. If they must promote the BBC then I prefer it being properly incorporated into the credits.

The above endcap is excellent but I find the purple box tacky and obtrusive, especially on things like magazine headers.

Yes, the purple is particularly poor. I've never liked the square looking font, either, though.

Agree with the above comment that the endcap is rather cool, however, the logo looks awful everywhere else. BBC DVD's will soon be blighted by a massive purple box too;
