BBC World just went AWOL

It was rather odd.

I had N24 and World up on different screens like I often am known to do. There is always a lag of avout 2min 30 seconds between the two.
However suddenly both mnaged to catch up with eachother, they both ran the title sequences simultaniously... which I thought was odd.

They went to the news desk and I wandered off to the kitchen. A min or so later on my return World were back on the bill-boards.

Then a CA came on with a special "We apologise for the break in service" graphic / music (yes special music too) and apologised. Then after a few seconds it went into Dateline London. Dateline started at 1508 GMT.. rather odd given the BBC's time keeping.

So somewthing werent rather wrong there. Razz
Alas I missed exactly what happened... Evil or Very Mad anyone else see it?

I wasn't able to capture any of it either, the World one isn't hooked up to the Cap card.

They ran dateline all the way to the TOTH. All seems ok now

All that happened, as far as I saw, was that the breakdown menu & music was played out instead of the symbol, by mistake. Dateline London was the scheduled programme, and it normally runs for about 50 minutes. So, in order for there to be a break just before the TOTH, they start it a couple of minutes earlier than usual for other programmes.

The breakdown slide and music wouldn't have been a mistake. They'd have been used on purpose to fill or cover up an error or fault!

There was no fault, though. The news finished as normal, then weather, followed by a break. Instead of a symbol, there was about 5 seconds of the breakdown menu, followed by an announcement for Dateline London. That's why I said it looked like a mistake.

What music was the breakdown music? Was it new or was it the old tune?

No, it was the old tune, with a new slide.

Did anyone just see the opening titles on News 24? Rather hilarious.

LOL it was they played, the sound went, so another copy played over the top - then the music started, studio shot lasting for a long while, then a rather disturbed Chris Lowe: "Hello, Good Evening."

How do you get BBC World in the UK apart from watching it via the net?
