Yes I have noticed that, and always have thought it was or is too high. I don't understand why they don't just use the World headline bed overnight (one used during the day on World), because it is more up-beat and it works realy well. And also when overnight, why at 15mins past the hour, for a reminder of the headlines, do they use that awful, boring News 24 bed? That is one which I really wish they would do away with!

Does anyone think the vamp they are using today, the one also used overnight, follows really badly into the World News ident? It really is too high pitched for the ident. The proper BBC World News one is much better. They could have used that one today, the one with no thunderclaps, used at *.15 on BBC World normally. They could have therefore used this at *.15 today, followed by a decent tag, instead of the mixture of overnight vamp and News 24 tag!! Now they've resorted to using the N24 vamp at *.15, even on the joint bulletins!

I think that when World joins UK in the night the vamp after the pips is totally rubbish. I prefer the thunderclaps but neither go well with the World ident which is like a low pitched version of the BBC One/Six/Ten O Clock one!

Holy crap why can't everyone understand that the two studio's have there own purposes and that changing studio's would be utterly ridiculuous. And trust me I live in Britain and have seen BBC World longer than I have News 24!!,

Yes the whole idea of the world studio is brilliant, and the camera angles that have been used today have been good, but in my view in order to please everyone (and me!) both studio's should get a re-vamp! Yes I know BBC World just has, but i'm talking about the backrounds now and here's me again talking about the syamtery thing!
BBC World News could be something better as c@t has already suggested and so BBC World should start to make the transistion to more newsbased programming. Yes every channel needs to have it's own idenity program wise but they really do need to improve the news service itself (astons, idents, stings etc....... are brilliant!) With the intorduction of more 2 preseneters for majour bulltains at certain times of the day. The re-instatement of the world today at 18:00 GMT for one.

With all these improvemnets I think BBC World could be even better and in my view we have already seen the 1st step towards this in August!

Cheers,

DD.

The only problem with the 2 presenter format is that the BBC World studio isn't designed for it. It really looks odd when you see two presenters on together on BBC World. Look at tonight for example, they both have different backgrounds behind them, unlike News 24!

Ah you see rob, thats where my symatery theory comes in. The world studio is good, but if we were to have to presenters we would need to have the same backround, thus havng a new back built for the BBC World newsroom!!

Sorted.

The thing is at the end of the day, it dosen't really matter that BBC World's set is not symmetrical because they only have the one presenter anyway.

Enjoy it while it lasts!

I have to admit though the BBC World newsroom does looke ven better in widescreen!

By the way on the BBC World monitors, in the newsroom, I have noticed all the channels seem to be 14:9 and 4:3 channels like Sky News is shown 4:3 stretched to a 14:9 frame, has anyone else noticed this?

The 'monitors' are regular 4:3 portable TV's. The distribution system around the News Centre is 16:9. Within each box where you select which channel you want is a converter to allow proper 16:9 sources to be viewed as intended on the 4:3 portable TV's. The distribution system has no 4:3/16:9 selector

Ha ha! How many times have I heard that be said! Smile
The reason the overnight vamp is used is because of the staccato stabs at the top of it - it allows time for World Pres to opt-in and to mask the reverb from N24's countdown clock.

I didn't quite understood what you meant, so bascially what you are saying that is in letterbox format, so bascially anything 4:3 is stretched to 16:9 like Sky News etc?
