Well stricktly speaking they were "beeping" them Wink

BBC staff cards cannot be swiped as they don't have a credit card style bar on them.

I'll have it - as long as you're not a fraud Andrew. You can't be too careful.

Next you'll be telling me that your name is Járón Bráss and you're a senior broadcast journalist. It's a slippery slope.

Incidentally, can you show me to Mr Bráss' office please, andyrew?

Indeed, I could never find the World studio when I was working on World! It;s not the easiest place to find.

Seriously after the IRA bomb, 11/9 and the like there was a hightened security at the BBC and I do remember Asa and the moderators asking not to post studio locations on TV forum, which is open to anyone to read.

Of course so far things have been vague.... but hey, lets be careful out there Cool

Having been on two tours of BBC TV Centre, and having received conflicting information on each one, I turn to the sages in the Forum for clarification.

Clearly the BBC World newsroom is in TVC Stage 5 , but on which floor? One guide said the first floor (i.e. the saime as N6, used for the national 1/6/10, Hardtalk etc), but another said all the 24 hour operations (i.e. Radio 5, 5 Sports Extra, News 24 and World) were grouped together on the second floor.

A small point I know, but would be interested to find out.

Thanks.

World is on level 1 of Stage 5, the same level as the nationals, which is in Stage 6.

News 24, 5 Live and Sport 24 are on the 2nd floor of Stage 6. Sports X donesn't really 'exist' anywhere, but comes from a Workshop on the 2nd floor too.

If I see a lost dog wandering about TVC, I'll point him in the right direction. Doesn't sound as though he'll get there otherwise.

RE the cards having strips:: Yes they do. You have to swipe them to get into Bush House for starters. I used mine about a month ago the last time I was there.

The PAC keys are seperate devices again - if Andy does have an old one security will have deactivated it by now.

Dog isn't quite right with that explanation. World IS in Stage V, but is not on the 1st floor. The 1st floor area in Stage V is occupied by editing and graphics for BBC One/Two news programmes, and a different studio.

As for security - different areas require different access devices. Some require an authorised staff card (inductive not swipe based), whilst others require a separate black "PAC" tag or dongle.

When's the last time you visited Bush Chris? My card deffo doesn't have a strip, so I don't see how I could swipe it...

And yes, PAC is something different, there's two systems running at TVC!
