Then it could be due to the opting out of each of the channels! They may need that particular Ident (breaking news one) to make it easier to opt out! Just like they do at the end on the joint overnight bullitins!

Basically it is the overnight end sting with 'BREAKING NEWS' at the bottom. There is a great clip of it at InformativosTV, the URL of the BBC World News page is http://www.zabalo.com/informativostv/BBC/bbcworldnews.htm.

I have to say I've not seen the 'breaking news' sting used. Normally it is what is called the 'network sting'. It is blank from what I recall. For PBS it is not a break and so the 'into break' sting is not appropriate.

It is quite a quick sting, 3 secs instead of the 5 secs for the normal break stings. This allows World Pres. and America to get out quick, and news not hanging around too long for PBS. The whole thing has to look seemless on all networks.

I haven't been to that site pointed to in an earlier reply as my laptop is on a go-slow today, but...

Are they refering to the PIDLE? (Breaking News/Live Event/Opt-Out etc)
