does anyone know where we can hear this 2 minute long ending. I've never heard it. Don't have digital television

Nothing special, just the extended The World Today ending with a load of badly mixed cross fades at the beginning to make it last the 2 mins. The extended TWT ending was already a crap, in-house job, mixing the BBC World News special themes and the The World Today long opening theme, and really didn't need to be made worse by someone's idea of a remix. But I cant blame them, they didn't have the time to comission David Lowe to further mix the music and they needed something quickly, but TBH they could have done a better job.

If you really want to hear it go to the TV Room's website and look for the bbc world iraq specials.

I must say the second 2-min remix with more thunderclaps, etc that they did was much better though. Less repetitive. Shame they got rid of it and went back to the first, crappier ending.

These 'remixes' your all talking of. They're not that bad. I mean they do the job and I thought they proved effective.

I agree with CDD it does sound a bit bogged, yes it does the job. But compared to other audio packages the BBC use they fiddled a bit to much with this one.

My personal fave that I think does the the job, but does it well its the Radio 1 Newsbeat theme, its BBC News styled but fits in the Radio One styling. Most of the BBC's in house mix's are pretty bad, not sure why but they are compared to some of the things I've heard that have been produced by people on this forum.

Here is a capture of the 1 minute special close, with Mike Embley (+ a cold):

The World Today - 5.30 Break

I think it is quite effective, it adds a certain pace to the headlines, so theyre not just there to fill up the remaining few seconds.

Does anyone have a clean copy of that 1 minute file?

I have one that's two minutes - but it's probably the wrong one...if anyone has the clean real one it'll be greatly appreciated.

Granted, they *did the job*, but Pres could have done a better job - specially as I could probably have created something like that more effective - after all, it was only two notes repeated for about a minute before the music was allowed to continue... unimpressive really.
