Yes, I know all about the seperate funding of the groups, I've written Business Studies portfolio on it.  But, they seem to mix - for example, Peter Coe presents on both.  Does he get two salary packages, one from each company???

BBC Worldwide pay BBC News for the news service hence Peter can work for both World and news 24 as he's paid for by BBC News.
And some programmes are sponsored and contain adverts inserted in London not locally.
As had been said the UK gets News 24 and everywhere else gets World and that I'm afraid is the way it is likely to stay.
BBC4 will carry more output from BBC World when it starts for those of you who want more World output.

Yeah some of the programmes are sponsored eg Holiday and what do you mean when you say some the ads are inserted in London, do you mean like the formula one stats?

Can you confirm that BBC4 will show the actual BBC World News service from the World studios, or will it be a UK modified version?(hopefully the latter won't be the case!)

The true fact is that you can get BBC World in the UK, despite the official nonsense from the BBC, by adding a 60cm dish pointing to Hotbird and hopefully the BBC can unofficially give a digital signal via Eurobird!

Will BBC News 24 show Asia Today at a decent time, say 10.30 pm, or 11.30 pm, rather 4.45 in no mans land.

The F1 factoids, along with with commercials for Europe and Latin America are transmitted from London.

Europe opt's out of the core service now at various times of the day too. Europe leaves after the weather, and show's its own entire back half, and rejoins the core service at the top of the hour. This increases advertising space during europe peak, and minimises it off-peak, when other global regions want more ad time, and europe doesn't have really long and boring break fillers.

Asia Today is targeted at Asia, and not UK, which is why I guess it's shown so late on N24. The programme isn't recorded until 10.30pm, and first shown on World at 11.30 pm(7.30 am Singapore).

AFAIK the plan at the moment (and it may change as things always do) is that it will be a joint BBC World/BBC4 programme shown on both at the same time.
Also watch out for more BBC World stuff on overnights on News 24!!!!

What do you mean when you say look out on News 24? Is this in the near future? If it is, I will tape overnight.

Yes I have noticed that on the Hotbird version, the BBC World DOG is not coming from London, but whoever inserts the ads, which explains why the BBC World DOG sometimes ends up on the ads!

i wish they would put 'click online' back on news 24. it came from BBC World and was good but it dissapered again. Does BBC World still show it? i think n24 used it cause parliament was in summer recess and did not need to produce straight talk so it was used to fill the gap (im probably wrong). Anyway anyone know whats happened and will it return.

That dosen't make any sense, I know there is a half hour version of Asia Today shown at 4.30 BST, which means the guys in New Delhi can watch it nine, so why can't that edition be shown at 11.30 pm.

I know the programme is aimed for Asia, but there are asian people living in this country as well FYI!

At the moment, they shouldn't bother at all, I mean who actually watches 4.45am, people don't even know this high quality programme exists!

The europe feed is generated in London, the same as the main core feed.  It has it's own DOG generator for when Europe opts-out, and AFAIK the DOG will be on during the commercials too as soon as the software is modified.
