Listen you brain dead idiot, the streams are STOPPED when you publish the links on an open forum.

Stop asking people to publish them.

Can someone tell me how I re-position my Sky digital dish to receive the Hotbird satellite at 13 degrees east (wherever the hell that is!).

At the moment my dish is pointed at the normal Sky Digital satellite (Astra? at 28.8 degrees).

Do I move my dish left or right, up or down?

You'd need to move it a bit to the West, and down a bit. But then you'd lose all your Sky channels.
Aligning a satellite dish by hand is a pain in the arse, and unless you've got a signal meter, I wouldn't really recommend it. (Even if you can get a TV in sight of the dish, the signal meter on the Sky Digibox is fairly useless for aligning a dish).

There's some info on the web for how to do it (and find out the elevation/azimuth you need) on the web. But if you're doing this just to watch BBC World for a bit, it's really not worth the hassle.

If you know the general direction to move the dish in, as thegeek said slightly West, it's much easier if you first go to the signal level in the menu and get a friend to stand by the telly. You can then reposition the dish with the window open, and get your friend to shout back to you when the signal level suddenly jumps up.

To be honest, you can pick up sat dishes with LNBs on ebay pretty cheaply, a pretty small one should do if you live in the South, and just stick it on a stand on the ground. Then when you up sticks in three weeks, you won't have to worry about re-aligning the original Sky dish.

Seriously, please die. Either that or bugger off; your useless 'contributions' are more pointless than Pointless Pannel's were. We don't NEED you trying to show off by posting your completely irrelevant and pĂsspoor caps of BBC World in every thread.

Not any more, thank goodness, by the look of that rather nice six letter word beneath your name.

BBC World is receivable by three satellites: Thor, 1W, Hotbird 13E, Astra 19E. BBC World India is available as well.

The reason why I asked my question, is because my mum (in her infinate wisdom) bought a portable digital satellite receiving kit from Lidl for Ł70.

It comes in a plastic flight case, and contains a dish, DVB FTA DSAT receiver and all the necessary cables and connectors.

It's designed for people who go caravanning, but it looks ideal for anoraks who want to tune into European channels without having to meddle with the main sky dish which is attatched to the chimney of my mums house.

I was fiddling with my own sky dish this morning, which is just outside my upstairs window. I didn't manage to pick up anything, and I did lose my Sky channels briefly, but when I pushed the dish back to its original position, the Signal Quality and Signal Strength meters shot right up! So my fiddling wasn't completely in vain! Smile

Ask too many questions about BBC World streaming and you'll get yourself killed. The TVF Mafia is a silent and deadly presence. That's a warning.

Tis only a matter of time before that stream dies as well.

Well I was only half joking at the time...
