I think the clip you are reffering to, that double beep was from the old countdown, but obviously the guys at World presentation pressed the wrong button and loaded the wrong countdown, so they had to fade out the old countdown.
The countdown music isnt the same as news 24, its remixed, it has a fast paced BBC World beat in some arreas, and the BBC World sort of Shuffling sound in others.
Absoluetly. I've only heard the clip on the first page, but it sounds similiar (or halfway between) the remix they used in the 10minute remix on BBC Parliament during the election campaign, but not quite that bad.
When I get a better sound file I'll work on the sound for you Martin!

I have created a flash animation of the new countdown, using the music from the parliament remix, and the colour from the real video.
I have no space at present to upload it, so if i send it to someone, could they put it online.
I will edit the animation when i get final colouring and final music.

Oh right! I'll have to keep an eye out for it on Thursday.
I think it is a better idea to have a countdown that actually goes up to the hour, rather than the old countdown and ident.
Anyway, nothing beats DWTV up to the hour. :
DID SOMEONE SAY DWTV???
I want their music sooooo bad...especially their 'ticker tape' one they play the end of segments...
Does anyone have the music from DWTV in the clear?
Well the News 24 countdown is now being used on BBC World all afternoon! The last time I heard the BBC World countdown go out was this morning at 0800!
Graphics are good, but the numbers don't look in proportion, if you know what I mean, it loooks narrow, but the news 24 countdown music just dosen't integrate well with the world headlines bed, and the countdown is useless when the headlines bed is not set to the right level!
I must say, I've noticed that the BBC WORLD News headline vamp is extrememly quiet in comparsion with News 24's , which booms through every hour! Since I've been watching BBC World on News 24 while they've been proper bulletins, it has been rather low. The titles are ok though! Stephen Cole made the same mistake for a third time in a row!
