I don't know if this has been mentioned before (I don't frequent the forums that often anymore), but this MediaLife article seems to confirm speculation that the BBC will launch World in the US very soon:

The BBC's very big plans for America

they were hoping to launch in early summer according to a reply that I received from Richard Sambrook. Very Happy

Best of luck to BBC World in the US. I think it's about time an independent broadcaster told Americans what the world is really like, instead of distorted and biased reporting from the likes of Fox and MSNBC.

I hope this doesn't affect BBC World in Canada. I like BBC World just the way it is.

Funny enough, weren't Sky news suppose to launch in the U.S this July?

So far there's been no news! Confused

There never is on Sky Razz

Interesting they place to make their on programmes through time, could there be an American Business Report, the return of America Direct?

It is hardly a "very big plan", all they are doing is syndicating themselves across cable networks.

I imagine Sky aren't going to launch until September, when their new programming etc comes into play.

And don't all wet your knickers at once - as the article says, this has been done before. It's no surprise that Reese -no, I started CNN, it was all mine- Schonfeld has waded into the debate, because frankly he is now a bit of an old duffer who has very little idea what he's talking about.

Reese Schonfeld, when setting up CNN, was told by his underlings that they had found a potential star presenter on a local TV network in Baltimore, hosting a cheapo talk programme. He had a look, and turned her down, said she was unlikely to get past local TV; she wasn't good enough for him, he said she was rubbish.

The her in question was Oprah Winfrey.

In mine secluded Icelandic position have we a reduced entrance to the British television net. I formed an attempt despite the clear lack of our family at the financing for observing such services, yet was it not capable to be reached? May one information sets to to the order, as even as you inside to co-ordinate could is deceptive as, in order to concern this certain service.
