Just got the weather music -- it definitely should be played more. Even extended. Hopefully it will be released on the CD!

From my experience they use the bottom LIVE dog when BBC News is simulcast in the UK or if the top LIVE dog would obstruct the picture.  The top LIVE dog is used when BBC World is broadcasting on its own.  Personally they should just use the bottom dog, it's much nicer and less obstructive.

And Pablo's right -- they had the same situation during the flags era.  But the BBC World flags LIVE dog was really huge and took up the whole corner.

I like the top LIVE caption that BBC World uses, in fact News 24 should use it as well, but then again they are CRAP!

I was reading in one of the British papers the other day something about the latest costings for BBC World. The paper was suprised it cost so much since for most of the time it just showed ceefax! (ie. the text fillers in the breaks!)
