BBC World

Right now I was just watching some clips of BBC World in the flags era and I have now come to really appriciate now how good the World Today and the Flags Era was and how now the studio and the presentation is AWFUL, I never had such a strong view until now but after seeing those clips I have now been infuiated with the present studio especially, they have GOT to change it for the better.

I haven't seen any video clips of it, but I'm guessing from what I remember of seeing it in Prague mixed with the N24 flags era that it was really good - I loved the flags era on News 24, I prefer that to the corporate era (except the countdown!!)
I like the music from the World flags era, which sound suspiciously like the theme for World Business Report! Hmm! <suspicious look>

BBC World looked at its best in 1993. Fantastic music, nice graphics.
Aww, them were the days.

Oh yeah! The flags were a very good image for the channel. Although the image now is quite good, I much preferred the flags era. They had been with the channel for years and it was a shame to see them go.

Also before the 97 flags era they had a virtual style BBC studio which I absolutely loved. Now, although they are in the newsroom and it gives a good image I much preferred their large blue studio.

The music was good as well, try that url, (sorry about that) find BBC World and go to the world today 'End' you'll get a flavour of the music then and click on the weather, that works as well.
Any suggestions on how the new studio will look like (just imagine the existing one and work around that)

I don't think the News part of the studio is getting a renevation, its the other side, AFAIK, where the Business programme will be presented from. But obviously they can't broadcast news from there, as the builders/technicians will need to talk to one another!

http://home.clara.net/jim.edwards is the address and find BBC WORLD out of the BBC list. Its the 1994 look, and also the modified 1995 look which saw the change from BBC WSTV to BBC WORLD. Although the clips on the site don't really do the great look justice. We'll have to ask him if he can redo the clips in 150Kbps because it really was a fantastic look. Bring it back!!! Incidentally my Pace receiver receiving from 13°E still has the channel label BBC WSTV. Well I couldn't be bothered to change it and it reminds me of the good ol' days.
