I watched BBC World on BBC News 24 this morning and wondered where do they transmit from?
BTW: If this channel transmits to all the world, do they have a clock on screen? It would be different in different time zones wouldn't it?
BBC World News broadcasts from what was the original (flag era) News 24 studio ... it's called N9 .... it's just round the corner from News 24 and 5 Live. The channel itself is broadcast via BBC World Presentation which is in a different part of Television Centre in the same area as BBC Prime is controlled from.
There is no clock on BBC World output ... the clock you see at 0930 is added by News 24 as are the DOG's in the top left and right corners.
BBC World does have a DOG in the top left.

Cheers NickyS - but can you tell me, do they have the countdown at the top of the hour?
Yep, but only a 10 second one and it doesn't actually countdown to the top of the hour. After the countdown there is an announcement by the voice of BBC WORLD (Adrian Finighan) and then the news starts on the hour.
did anyone notice this morning on World News that because the clock is added by BBC News 24 they didnt have the aston and clock aligned at the bottom?

The BBC World studio is smaller than the News 24 studio, but is better looking in that there is a busy newsroom as a backdrop.
AND I also think that News 24 should join World overnight, instead of the other way about.
I'd have thought it would have been logical to do it that way, because say if I was living in Hong Kong, and tuned into BBC World, I wouldn't want to see an unusual studio that is used for a UK news channel.
WE WANT WORLD OVERNIGHT ON NEWS 24!!

I find international news much more interesting and engaging than national news. I think N24 overnight is much better as far as content goes.
There's a report on BBC News Online about a ghost that sodomises men when they sleep in their own beds on the Tanzanian island of Zanzibar.
I've never been sure why everyone likes World so much!
I don't often stick up for News 24 but it strikes me as a far better news channel than World.
A) World isn't really a news channel, it has 30 minutes news bulletins at the top of the hour then feature programming after that.
B) World only ever have one presenter, and it gets mind-numbingly boring after 10 minutes.
C) World don't give much time to breaking news - News 24 do dedicate entire hours to international news
D) News 24 should be the top BBC news channel, World should switch to News 24, which is much better resourced to deal with major events.
I agree - they should get rid of that annoying red background on News24, because it gets very boring after a while.
And finally... News 24 does offer international news in the morning, although there should be one in the afternoon too.
It's not supposed to be an international news channel, it's a domestic BBC service, designed to suit the British viewer.
I think you'd all get very bored hearing the same story top the headlines for about 6 months - the Middle East.

I don't like World that much. Its studio is too bright for my liking!

You know what chesh, I agree news 24 is a much more quality channel. Their presentation is better, their desk is better and the studio is better. I mean I like the symatery with those two pilars on either side and the red back drop. Yes World does have the newsroom feel to it but I think it comes across as messy, while News 24 is ordered.

Yes, I much prefer News 24 to World, I'm not sure why everyone seems to love BBC World so much.
I think it's about time the News 24 look had a bit of a freshen up though, but it's not the set I'm bored with, but the titles and sting. They've been played at least twice an hour for nearly two years, and I'm now rather bored with them (not that I've watched them twice an hour every hour for two years!) so I think it's about time we had some fresh titles.

I get sick and tired of News 24 cutting away at 29 mins past the hour to that bloody News 24 advert promoting the news they have brought then going back to the sting for the 30 mins past headlines.
It just continues the music throughout and it gets SO annoying!
